How bout' them Clones!

Congrats to the ISU Cyclones for their Independence Bowl win earlier this week. It was nice to see them win a bowl game there, especially since they got screwed there against Alabama.

Things seem to look good for the Clones for the 2005 season. They finished fairly strong and the team is young, not a lot of senior leaving who are starters. Lets hope they pick up next year where they left off this year.

Manning and the record

Poor Indy fans, they have to wait another week to see Peyton break Marino's record. I could not believe that some of the fans in Indy were booing the Colts for taking a knee rather than go for a cheap touchdown to tie the record. Its was refreshing to see that when most of the athletes today (can you say Kobe?) think it should all be about them and don't seem to care about sportsmanship.

Seriously, I think the Colts will be tough to beat in the playoffs this year the way they are playing now. I think they can beat the Pats, although not sure about the Steelers. The Steelers are looking really good, and they don't seem to have any glaring weaknesses right now. Assuming Burress and Duce are both healthy by the time the playoffs start, they could be hard to beat.

With the Patriots losing tonight, the Steelers pretty much now have home field locked up. And now the Pats don't even have a first round bye locked up for sure. This has got to be one of the best playoff races in years. Too bad the AFC can't have a couple of the NFC's slots, you might see a losing or 8 and 8 team make the playoffs this year in the NFC. That reminds me of the old days in the NFC central when the Vikings or Packers would win the division going 8-7-1. Yuck!

TO is hurt, bad news for Philly?

Uh oh, Terrell Owens is hurt, he might not even be back in time for the SuperBowl after spraining his ankle and breaking a part of a bone near his knee. So the burning questions is this- Can the Eagles, who lost in the championship game the past 3 years, win it this year without TO? They also added the Freak on defense and Trotter is playing well too, and the NFC is very weak. But you never know, Green Bay might be able to beat them if they get a couple of breaks, and if Carolina can make the playoffs they might have a shot too.

It would have been funny to have TO get one more TD and Reid to have to wear the tights (not that I particularly would want to picture that thought.

Donovan Darius hit

I am sure by now that you have all seen the hit, or more accurately the clothesline, by Jags safety Donovan Darius on Packers receiver Robert Ferguson. The NFL is expected to announce any fines or other actions on friday. Jags coach Jack Del Rio says Darius was going for the ball, but I am not sure that I buy that one. From the replay, he certainy does not appear to react like he was going for the ball and missed it. Instead, it looks more like he hit what he was aiming for, his head. It looked more WWE then NFL for what I saw.

I personally think he should be suspended for a game, at least one game, for the hit and he will certainly be fined. It sounds like Ferguson will be okay, although he might not play again right away.

What do you think?
